First things first...I Hate The Yankees!
Joe Torre should NOT be fired! The only questionable move made by Torre against the Tigers was taking Wang out of game 1 (with that sorry bullpen). The man had the stones to put A-Rod at the 6th spot to light a fire under his a$$ and what does A-Rod do...NOTHING! So Torre puts him at 8th cause he was batting like the 8th or 9th guy in the line-up (Inge and A-Rod were both terrible at the plate and they were both at the bottom). Can't blame Torre for the front office not buying Pitching.
P.S. GO TIGERS!!!

I think Torre and Cashman should go. Cashman has $200 million to spend on a roster and he can't put together a good pitching staff? Either he or Steinbrenner let Andy Petitte walk. They could have used Petitte against Detroit. They signed Gary Sheffield to play right field when Vladimir Guerrero was available at a relatively cheap price. And they signed a first baseman who can't play first base in Jason Giambi.
As far as Torre goes, the Yankees overtook the Red Sox this season by playing without Sheffield and Matsui. Melky Cabrera was a key player in the Yankees run to first place. Torre marginalized Melky in the playoffs. Sheffield needed to sit. When Torre took over the Yankees in 1996, he won because he had the nerve to sit Wade Boggs for Charlie Hayes and had Tino Martinez sit for Cecil Fielder.
Joe Torre deserves to be enshrined in Cooperstown for what he has accomplished as manager of the New York Yankees, but I think his run here is over. He's a class act, but he should have been able to get this team past the Detroit Tigers.
But if Torre goes, Cashman should go also. If one stays it should be Torre. Cashman has not spent the money he's been given well.

wow. i was shocked when i learned that. the yankee's owners are really taking this loss hard. I mean usually they say things like "they tried really hard out there but it wasn't our day" or "maybe next year" but they seem really unpset. Why was this year so important to them? I thought Torre was like a really good manager and legend. Should be be fired just because his team didn't make the finals???

No and it's crazy to say that he would. He didn't lose those games.
Look at what he did in the last 11 years.
4 world series titles. 2 AL Titles and finished 1st every year but one when they finished 2nd.
George will likely pay the 7 million Torre is due and let him know that this is it, win or you are gone.

Joe Torre should be let go in a nice way. And then they should retire his number for the good things he has done. Its time for a change.

In his 11 years, the Yankees have gone to the playoffs 11 times. That is a great track record if yo ask me. If they don't win the Series every year, it shouldn't come down to him. He is a great manager.

Damm right he should be fired! What has he done for the Yankees? It's his job is supposed to be a manager, that means its his responsibility as a manger to make sure things like this don't happen. Get rid of the high priced Bum.
