I was on the Oprah Winfrey Show twice in 1996. Oprah did a show about where to find great bargains, and I had just bought a bunch of stuff for pennies from a US Customs Service auction. A producer from the Oprah Show was there and asked what I bought... the next thing I know, I was on the Oprah Show. I showed a bunch of the stuff on the air and discussed it with Oprah some.

Then some of the stuff that I bought from the Customs Service was confiscated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service! I thought this was hilarious and wrote to the producer at the Oprah Show about it. So she had me on again at the end of the year, discussing what was confiscated.

It was a great experience and all my expenses were paid. I stayed at the Omni Hotel in Chicago (very elegant!), and there were limos and room service. However, the Oprah Show does not pay a fee to guests like me. Big name guests may get a fee but I did not. I did get a coffee mug that says "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on it!

In the 80's I was on a program called PM magazine and I got a makeover. The crazy before and after pics and all that. It was an experience. ALot of hurry up and waits. Was on air about 5 minutes. Waited eight or nine hours at the salon while they were shooting. But it was my 5 minutes of fame.

Fifteen-to-One in 1998, and in the front row of the audience of Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2003.

I was also on Meridian Tonight in 1993 as part of a group of students going to the USA to put on Shakepeare plays and workshops to high school kids.

I am on a commercial for a local hearing aid business that I use to work for. It is a few years old but they still air it. I have people come up to me all of the time and say they seen the commercial and ask if it was me. Silly huh?

I was in a work related documentary years ago, it was one of those educational programmes they show in schools for careers advice, all I had to do was to walk up to my manager with a piece of paper and ask if I could speak to him in private, it lasted about 20 seconds and that was it, a few years later I and others who I worked with were on a local news item because we came out on strike over pay and conditions, I was sat on a wall talking to one of the girls and you could about see me, nothing much to write home about but I can say I had my 30 seconds of fame.
