sore throats usually stem from colds which are viral and have no cure...

you can treat the symptoms however..

-gargle with warm salt water (2 tsp of salt to 8oz water)
-suck on ice cubes or hard candies
-at night-sleep with a warm mist humidifier in your room-this will keep the air moist in the room and prevent your throat from drying out and becoming more irritated
-drink hot tea w/honey-this will be soothing for your throat
-take ibuprofen-this works best i've found. it has an anti-inflammatory in it to also reduce swelling. take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours

I have had strep throat many times. The thing that relieves the sore throat pain the most for me is gargling with salt water as hot as I can stand it. I also sip anything hot such as tea with honey and lemon, chicken noodle soup, hot chocolate, and Vernor's (but, not every place in the US can get this). Popsicles may ease the pain, but I find that the relief is much shorter than drinking something hot. I avoid ice cream or other dairy products when I have a sore throat as it causes a lot of phlegm which makes me cough, which hurts my throat even more. Drink plenty of water and suck on sore throat drops or cherry Lifesavers. Orange juice or other citrus juices always sting my sore throat so I like to suck on Vitamin C drops or tablets.

Gargle with warm water with salt in it.Drink lots of tea and vicks vapor rub is good to rub all over your throat and chest. Also some Halls cough drops the cherry ones.Don't eat to much of solid foods yet, some good chicken noodle soup is good or some kind of soup.If you don't have a humidifier turn on your shower hot and let the steam help.Feel better and guess what I'm doing everything I told you I have a sore throat and cold!

There is no real cure for a sore throat.....there is a medical gargle that will temp numb it, but rinse with warm salt water...and this is the KEY help.....keep it wet by sucking hard candies, cough drops, anything that will keep it moist. A dry sore throat hurts alot more esp when you swallow....keeping it moist helps to calm it a bit...........hopes this helps...feel better hun.

just gargle warm water with alittle bit of dissolved salt on it and a gargle as long as you want, in evening and morning and it does what you expect! or gargle with some antibacterial mouth gargles too at night and morning!! it surely help too because it kills off the bacterias and cures inflammation....AND DONT EAT SWEETS AT THIS TIME!!as its promotes inflammation of throat!!
