Expensive? Certainly. Mistake? Only time will tell. A great player in either code, but needs to stay injury free and get game time.
Best position? Perhaps Saracens who have been paying for all his rehab might be the best to decide, and they will probably remember that he played loose forward at league

The RFU & Sarries signing Andy Farrell was a very expensive waste of money.
I mean, what does it say to any up-and-coming young Union players? Don't bother as we'll get someone from League instead!
As for where he should play.. Well Richard Hill is the best blindside in the country, when he's fit, and as for inside centre I think Gloucester's Anthony Allen is a much better prospect and he's only 20!

I was brought up a 'Union Man' and a 'Glouc' supporter in the shed at Kingsholm, and got into RFL when working in Manchester. I saw Farrell's first game and watched him, Billie Whizz, Vaiga Tuigamala, Henry Paul, Martin Offiah, Gary Connolly et al destroy teams all over the world. Andy Farrell was a superb rugby player, one who left League for Union 3 or 4 years too late. He could still be a classy and influential member of an England WC team but the time lost to injury would seem to have made this most unlikely. Of the positions mentioned, it doesn't really matter too much where you play him, although adjustment to inside centre is probably the easiest. Unfortunately time and tide waits for no man and I have, regretably, low expectations. High hopes for Andy and all England RFU fans sakes, but low expectations!

The Guy has a great rugby brain and needs to be left alone for one season to get his head around the new code. Then know it all's at the RFU can make there choice were they think he should play. But, Saracens have got another problem a rather good flanker called Richard Hill who is coming back stronger from injury and i think that Andy Farrell will get pushed to the bench or forced to play centre..

well the saracens want him as a blindside England want him at centre, sarries have worked with him longest so surely they would no what position suits him best, and i think it was an expensive mistake through no fault of his own he has spent 18 months injured, but because of his age 31 neither England or Saracens are going to get much out of him playing wise, in future if the RFU wnt league players to switch codes they have to get them younger than Farrell was, a maximum of 25 to insure that they get a return on there investment

I reckon that he should be played at inside centre. Because at blind side flanker, or in the forwards, he is too much of a waste as it is mostly contact and not enough running with the ball. But if he was at centre he could make a better impact as it is a similar position to the running angles, and tackling, in rugby league. Plus Andy Robinson wants someone vocal at inside centre (hence why he dropped Stuart Abbot) so Farrel would be perfect in that role.

Snowball,
he earning no more money than he was at Wigan and if he stayed at Wigan he would probably be earning more money.
As for playing at inside centre, good handling and kicking from hand but too slow and needs to change his running style and angles seriously. A very expensive mistake and a very stupid one.

Time will tell if he has been a mistake.
His ability is undisputed and when finally fit is capable of greatness.
Give the man a chance.
