This is the beginning of the uterine lining coming away from the uterus walls. Periods usually start off like this and end with dark lining as the last of the old blood leaves the uterus.

Thats something called spotting...it's normal. It happens when you take birth control pills or your cycle is irregular this month. It happens to me and I don't worry but if you are really worried I suggest you see a doctor.

this is really normal and most periods start light and end light and are heaviest in the middle!

Don’t panic its just old congealed blood left over from your previous period. it's quite common for it to happen.
