From Microspft:
Click the Power Schemes tab, and then select a time period in System hibernates. Your computer hibernates after it has been idle for the specified amount of time.
;-D It will also shut off/hibernate if it detects a low battery situation. Be sure you are charged up!

In xp go to control panel, power options and change the shut off times.

click on start, go to settings, click on control panel, a window opens and you click on the button for power options. Here you can change the options when your computer shall switch off or go into standby.... hope that helps...

I agree with the other answers....you need to reset you options to Never so that you control it.....it doesn't control you.
