Periodically, I get a feeling of heartburn right in the centre of ribs.
It is a pain not a burning sensation.
Sometime it starts at my back and works it way around and sometimes I get pains down one arm.
I haven't noticed a pattern with any particular foods. It go as quickly as it starts as well.
Sometimes I feel like a need to do a huge burp, but when I do it still doesn't realieve it!
Should I be worried?

Please go to the doctor and have your liver enzymes checked. I had very similar symptoms for a couple of years. Sometimes the attacks were mild and sometimes they were VERY bad. It turned out that I had pancreatitis. It was caused by a gall stone that blocked my pancreatic duct.

Just try this if you are waiting to get an appointment with the doc, it might just amaze you, I had similar problems for about ten years 'till I read this idea in a mag and thought 'It's worth a try'. So what is it? Give up milk and as much dairy products as possible, just try it for a few days you might just be amazed! I was. Of course it's very difficult to give up dairy completely because of hidden stuff in various recipes but just give up the obvious and you might just be amazed too. I have told loads of people who have the same complaints and most of them say something like 'oh I couldn't give up milk etc.' and I think 'put up with the symptoms then' but the people that have tried it have been amazed also! Just try it! What have you got to lose? A couple of days without dairy. If I'm wrong you're no worse off. If I'm right you may just save yourself loads of discomfort! My doc was even talking about an operation before I tried this! Got to be worth a go? Good luck whatever you decide to do.

This doesnt sound like heartburn or indigestion. If you are having this pain quite a lot, you should go to your GP as it could be something serious.
It may be trapped wind. Does the pain go away when you burp? If it does then this is most likely what it is.

Hi There,

I agree with the other individuals who stated that you should be seen immediately by a physician. It could be any number of things - your gallbladder, appendix, ulcer, etc.... Because of the pain you are experiencing in other parts of your body, it leads me to believe that this isn't just plain ole indigestion.

I have similar issues. The only thing that really seems to work is cutting down on Drinking/Smoking/Caffiene. Dull, I know!

Yes you should be worried and get yourself checked by a doctor to be on the safe side.
Heart burn sensations can often be heart problems.

I know of two people who had long term 'indegestion' type complaints but both did not get it investigtated. In both cases it turned out to be cancer of the colon.

Get it checked out ASAP

It sounds like the symptons of a friend of mine who had gallstones. Whatever it may be, a doctor should either be able to help or refer you to someone who can.
