i had a boyfriend and both of us are Roman Catholics, on a legal age and both in love with one another and we cannot stop of doing petting and kissing since it is the only way we can express our feelings to one another because we only see each other every 9- 10 months only due to the nature of his job as a seaman/seafearer. He was my first boyfriend and i was his last because he decided to settle with me and even his family told me that he was serious to be with me.

No, petting and kissing are not premarital sex. Oral sex and sexual intercourse are sex. I am sorry you see each other so seldom. It is nice that you have the support of his family. I wish you had the money to travel to some of his different ports to visit with him there. Cherish each moment you have together. Best wishes.

I dont want to sound patronising, but... if you regard kissing and "petting" ( what a incredibly old fashioned word that is!) as sex ..then you are taking your Catholic teachings a tad too literally perhaps!
In NO way whatsoever can that be regarded as premarital sex. And if you were married, it wouldn't be regarded as marital sex either!!! Sex is the act of penetration, the rest is all fore-play and need go no further if you dont wish it to.

the range of answers here show me that you'd be better off asking a priest this question. (at least the person who quoted "catholics today" bothered to answer in line with your own concerns).
that said, personally, i consider sex to be the expression of sexual love - which could include petting and kissing.
