Normally when you have virus on your system, it doesn't complete get removed from the system unless you follow lotta steps (go to registry then remove the virum prints etc).

So, the only option you get is format the harddisk and then instal robust Anti-Virus application so that you don't get virus again.

If you do have a anti-virus s/w, then run a thorough scan disk and always keep its Virus definition updated to protect against newly launched virus attach

Somebody put a USB thumb-drive in my computer at school and infected the computer.

I downloaded McAfee's Stinger and cleaned it off. No problem. McAfee updates stinger regularly. It is great. It is FREE free freee!

;-D I got this old eMac about 5 years ago, and I have never had a virus on it. I surf the net a lot and get tons of infected emails. As to my Mac infections? Nada!

Scream at the top of my lungs #&@$@#$ # #()#)( Microsoft!

Then boot up into safe mode and begin the cleanup.

Since I update all my security prgrams and virus definitions DAILY upon bootup, I then begin with virus detection, then removal.
Then remove the offending files, if applicable.
Run my Anti-Spyware/Adware/Rootkit programs.

Boot up into Windoze. Then run Registry Checker & Cleaner.

All should be well. I can now drink my well-deserved beer.

Hello there, had dreadful virus infection earlier in the year: purchased two s/ware packs over the net. Both failed; finished up using Adaware SE, No Adware and AVG: All are free and they were better than the bought progs.
Also tried some of the progs. on C/Net .com - many of them are free or free to trial. Trouble here was that although they seemed to perform (such as Zone Alarm), instead of improving my comps. performance it slowed to almost zero. Good luck

Nice question...

You have a Virus??

Run Antivirus program to remove it.
or, if that is too complicated. Throw the Computer out the window and never touch a computer again as long as you live.

yeah,
ive had it many many times...i have tried removing it with norton antivirus...it is CRAP..
then i tried mc afee which worked to an extent
i was totally frustrated by the condition and then i formatted the whole system
recently i had an adware attack...ads kept popping up every now and then
i used a software called ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.com/ which worked really well compared to the crap norton i got from yahoo toolbar
