we are all very lucky... but why are we number 1?

it's clearly because we have the freedom to discuss out every aspect of America and come up with the best option and best way to do things...

saying "anyone that complains is stupid,"as some have, is actually just being lazy... if everyone just said "I'm not going to do anything to make things better, because things are ok"... we wouldn't be the best country anymore...

we have to keep working to become even better... constantly... questioning everything and moving forward... conditions constantly change and what worked last year, no longer works... especially in a global marketplace...

and there are still areas in the U.S. that aren't so great where children do die for simple reasons... but there are those areas in every country and I want to be the first country with none of those areas...

I feel tremendously blessed that I do NOT live in the USA, but I am very worried about the Neo-Con fascists that rule over that once free country.

I love the USA and its once powerful Constitution and when it abided by its Bill of Rights. When it was a nation of Laws and everyone was equal under the law and everyone had the right to freedom, liberty, justice under the law and the pursuit of happiness.

Sadly this is no longer the USA of today. A political structure devoid of legal responsibility, that for many years, protected and covered up horrendous child abuse and has a President that is now, Officially, above the law and not subject to it.

I am so very very glad I do not live in that rogue state! A rogue state that is run by religious fundementalists, that is armed to the teeth with WMD and has warned the world that they are prepared to use them pre-emptively against anyone regardless of international law.

I am much more concerned with the conduct and direction of the USA, than of Iran or North Korea, or Iraq.

I know how lucky I am to live in the USA. I also know that many people go hungry in this country, and live in fear of being shot or killed in their own neighborhood. We are our brothers keepers. If you don't think I'm right, walk down any inner city neighborhood at night. Visit Appalachia. See elderly dieing from lack of affordable medicine. Look in the paper every week at the sheriff sales, listing properties that are being taken. Look at the death rate of newborns. We can't live in a vacuum in our own country. How many of our children have died from unnatural reasons?

You need to take another look at the U.S. All those things are happing here right now, we have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, many people go without food or eat dog food just to exist. 45 million people are without health care as it is not affordable to them. The good news is with wise use of our resouces it can be fixed.

Speak for yourself when it come to the food situation as there are children going hungry in the USA. But yes I know I'm lucky to live here and thankful too for the US servicemen and women who keep us as safe as they can.

Pardon me, Lucutus. Answerman: being 184 is not "one of the worst" it mean 183 countries have a worse infant mortality rate. Additionally, the ones that have a better one do not count premature still-births. The US does. I'm sorry, but I'm sick of that lie told constantly by the press.
