all they are good for is for advertising 'stuff'.

none of them are great artists or musicians, or writers or, or scientists, or discoverers, or adventurers or really anything of much amount.

All they excel at is being sales people for brand name goods & companies & thats about it.

what a useless bunch of overpaid rubbish people.

I certainly agree with yer there, trouble is the majority of people don't seem to realise this as they still contribute towards these so-called celebrities greed, by buying their merchandise, so-called biographies, crap music and magazines such as "Hello" which have people like posh beckham with their rubbish stories, if people stopped, these untalented people wouldn't be on the tele etc, of course not all famous people are untalented but the majority these days are and they are grossly overpaid but the "peasent" man still insists on supporting such people buy buying their goods and contributing to their greed. The world is a MAD place. Doctors etc SAVE lives and work long hours and only get a fraction of money compared to many of these talentless celebrities, and yeah shows like Parkinson are just a platform for these smug twats to further publicise themselves or advertise a new film coming out etc, a load of tosh.

I think it's 50/50. There are great celebrities, artists, that have done good things. Like the Beatles, Elvis, Jack Nicholas, Tiger Woods, Oprah, etc. Celebrities are merely entertainers. But some have brought peace to some people, inspired them, help them personally. In the early 1900s they were just entertainers, actors and singers. But today some try to help the poor, since they do have millions. And some just continue to gain millions without doing anything for the community. I think it's great when they help the community. They have the millions because we buy their things, see their movies. If it wasn't for us, they be just like us. But there are a select few that give back to the community. I'd rather see the real American workers get the millions. Coal miners, oil rigger, soliders, facotry workers, etc. (and housewives) These are the people that actually WORK and make the celebrities material possessions. We spend our little paychecks to see their movies and buy their CDs. Oops, now I think I've just convinced myself that they are overpaid rubbish people. :) Entertainers are just that, entertainers. It's good to have them to help us laugh and learn and relax. But earning millions of dollars to make me laugh is ridiculous.

There are now two types of famous folks, those famous because of what they do, and those famous for what they have done. The ones that do are talented and deserve their wealth and fame, and are usually nice people. The ones famous for what they have done where in the right place at the right time but often have no real discernible talent and often turn out to be fairly twisted individuals. They deserve to fade back into obscurity - but for some reason people like reading about them in heat magazine so it's the public's responsibility for keeping them paid.

It does seem that on the whole celebrities of today are merely famous for being famous, but perhaps that is because people who are great at something have better things to do with their time than being seen in the "right place", and that is why they do not gain celebrity status

I wouldn't lump them all into one category! I agree with "orchidmg", and I'd like to say that I'm impressed with some of the celebrities who have contributed and helped with world problems, like Katrina and the Tsunami or various causes. There are many celebrities who have a great heart and really care about others, Oprah, John Travolta, Bon Jovi, just to name a few. There are lots more.
Why are you angry at all of them?

Oh yes, I agree completely. I'd love to see the Big Brother never-have-beens in a fight to the death with Iggy Pop. That would rule.

Go Iggy!
