I predicted Pittsburgh would win this game.

Many are trying to figure out what is wrong with the Steelers.......here's my 4 reason's

1. Big-Ben: This kid has been through hell, he has lost 20 lbs...did you see how skinny he looked last night? He's going to need a few more weeks.

2. Randal El: If you don't think this loss didn't hurt this team think again. Last year you heard his name constantly...BIG loss here.

3. The Bus: Not only great for short yardage but he was the glue on this team...they are feeling the loss of his presence.

4. Break-out game: They haven't had one...Miami didn't do it for them (the only win),
they need to beat someone and get their confidence back. Many forget they went 7-5 last year then went crazy.

That's my thought's...what yours?????

The Boot....I agree, speaking from a person that was at that game. I will, never forget that feeling watching Jon Kitna walking out on the field...somehow you just knew it was over

Two words: OFFENSIVE LINE

The loss of the Bus and Randal El are not as bad as some say. They just couldn't run or give Ben enough time. Mazing when the line has always been a strong point. I am baffled.

What happened last night? They were outplayed and out coached. The Chargers have a tough D-Line (no.4 against the rush) and the nose tackle stuffed the middle all game. The Chargers pressured Roethlessberger by disguised blitzes / stunts and kept the right (his scramble) side contained. The Chargers offense played Martyball (i.e they took few risks and ran late against the Pittsburgh D). I'm sorry but the fake punt didn't fake out anybody - the punter lined up in an odd position and thus clued everyone that something unusual was up. Poorly conceived play and poor call in that situation.

You have a good point about the loss of Bettis. He was a great change-up to Parker and could tire a defense. Excellent character. Regarding Randal-El, he was a great fit for Pittsburgh's style of play but he will not be a stand out in Washington - good but not great. If you have been following the team a long time, you should remember that Pittsburgh is historically a slow-starting team. Last year's fantasy year is over and it's now a new season. Go Browns.

I said this before the game, Pittsburgh has a weak O-line this year, and Roethlisberger isn't handling the pressure. The steelers still have a great defense, but the problem last night wasn't that they let up on the Chargers in the second half, because they didn't. The Chargers made some adjustments at halftime that allowed them to move the ball. The Steelers came out and played the Chargers the same way they always do, they keyed on LT. Now most teams come out and try to stop #21, but the Steelers were putting 8 men in the box on almost every play, they were swarming around him. So the Chargers brought out Turner in the second half. With Turner and Tomlinson in the same backfield, the Steelers had to guess who the ball was going to, they kept guessing LT, and that opened up the running game for Turner. All of a sudden Pittsburgh couldn't blitz as much because they had to worry about break away runs, which opened up the passing game for Rivers. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Oh, and someone on here said that the Chargers were 4th against the run. They are actually 2nd against the run and 1st against the pass. So Steelers fans shouldn't feel too bad about losing this one, they played a great game, this just wasn't the best matchup for them in their current state. They should turn it around against KC.

I agree..the offensive line was bad but the Chargers d-line was a force to be reckoned with. The first half the Steelers controlled the game and had a lot of pressure on Rivers. The second half they went to a totally different scheme and let him sit back and pass wherever he wanted. Steelers pass d is not good enough to let the qb have time like that. They made Phillip Rivers look like Dan Marino. Gotta keep the pressure on the quarterback and they have to improve their offensive line or qb's are going to continue to kill them, and Ben will get hurt again if they dont keep the pressure off. Still a long way to go and they arent completely out of it, but they need to get on the right track and these top AFC teams need to trip up in order for them to make the playoffs.

It looked like the Steeler Defense died after half time. They had them pegged the first half and couldn't stop crap during the third and fourth quarters. Big Ben looked better last night, but the offensive line let to many blitzes by.

They are overrated..pure and simple. I still also think if Palmer hadn't gone down last year, nobody would be giving them a second thought this year.
