A Bowl of noodles cost $3.50 (2 Meals Outside) and every trip on bus to and fro to anywhere at least $1.20. Unless a person don't have any committments to paying for home, school fees, electricity or handphone bills. Think Twice...to Those Who Decide on Wages..

It depends on the nature of the job. If your job is repetitive and no-brainer work, that's good money you are getting. But if you are doing loads of work with exposure to health hazards or is life endangering, then I can understand why you feel exploited.
A typical employee in Singapore works at least 10 to 12 hours per day. Even a teacher spends an average of 10 hours at work these days. So a 9 hour job is considered a very relaxing job.
If you are drawing a low pay, you need to ask yourself a couple of questions rather than jumping hastily to a conclusion that your employer is exploiting you.
Are you paid a low income for your work because you lack working experience or qualifications? If so, garner the relevant experience/qualifications before demanding for more wages.
Next, ask yourself what industry pays you well. Certain fields pay well because there's a current demand for their goods/services. For instance, information technology. Perhaps, you are in an industry that isn't doing well at the present moment or is facing stiff competition from competitors.
Lastly, analyze your role in the organisation. Are you one of the employees playing the role of bringing in sales and profit for the organisation? Or are you playing a supporting role in your organisation where you contribute to part of the operational cost?
At the end of the day, we shouldn't be whining too much and doing too little work because we are facing stiff global competition. Instead of demanding for more wages, we should work around our own problems. A bowl of noodles may cost $3.50 according to you. But there's always such a thing called no-frills sandwich meal or a $2.50 assorted rice meal.

Depends on where a person lives. If a person lives in an area where the cost of living is low, minimum wage should be low. If a person lives in an area where the cost of living is high, minimum wage should be higher.
For example, Washington State has one of the highest minimum wages in the country. The cost of living there is astronomical. A decent, not too cramped one bedroom apartment costs around $500 a month, if you don't want to live in a ghetto.
On the other hand, Oklahoma has a relatively LOW minimum wage. I believe minimum wage there is around $6 an hour now. The apartment that my (now ex) boyfriend and I rented there six years ago still rents for $250 a month, as compared to $225 when we lived there. AND it was a pretty nice little studio apartment. Houses there rent for around 500-600 a month, for a two or three bedroom.
A two or three bedroom house in Washington will cost well over 800 a month, if you don't want to live in a bad neighborhood.
Cartons of cigarettes in Oklahoma are $25 a carton.
Cartons of cigarettes in Washington are upwards of $55 a carton.
My point? It is up to each state to raise the minimum wage, and it MUST be raised according to the cost of living.

Singapore is an open market, if you don't agree with it then don't work, so simple ! That why, the boss and employer bring in foreign workers. Cheap and good ($15 to $20 per day), even $2 per hour for OT and can do whatever job a Singaporean done. Thus, don't complaint ! you are consider very fortunate for a $50 per day job.

You can survive day to day, but it is not possible to live that way. $5.50 only works when most expenses are paid by some one else.
