Studies have shown that being attractive can be helpful in many different ways.

Some examples:

Attractive people are more likely to get a job interview (Watkins and Johnson, 2000).
Seen as more intelligent and interesting (Clifford, 1975).
Receive lighter prison sentences (Stuart, 1985).

One would think intelligence would be a good thing to have also :)

But of couse, having one or the other will not always be helpful. While being attractive might help you land a job at NASA, being unintelligent will not help you get it. Nor will being superintelligent help you if you have really poor people skills.

Yes, it's certainly true... especially if you're female.

Life is never easy but it *is* easier if you're good-looking. You get better service, get noticed more easily, get strangers to offer you seats and when you're applying for a job, your picture plays a big impact because there's a study that the picture is the first thing they look at and that plays a big impact if you'd get a job interview or not.

If you're intelligent, it could go both ways, life can actually be harder because you over analyze everything and you know that you have this big responsibility to help the world out. But if you use this intelligence in the right way, you'd feel fulfilled.

I don't want to sound cocky but me and my friends are the ermm intelligent (we all come from our country's best and hardest to get in university) and not-so-bad looking type (well, fine most of them are quite good looking) and we had this discussion that we'd actually be rather extremely good looking than smart because at least you don't know what people are doing to you. You're just contented and happy with your life. Ha-ha. Unlike when you know what's going around you, you make more effort.

So, therefore, I believe that life is easier when you're attractive but not so much if you're intelligent but it does help when you're both and you're female.

I reckon so. If i'm honest i'd probably go out of my way to help an attractive woman simply to try and cop off with her. So hshe'd benefit from me carrying her shopping or whatever.
Intelligent people get better jobs on the whole and so have more money and a better lifestyle. Less intelligent and unattractive people are made fun of and probably have to work harder.
Having said all that i'm a bit dim and ugly and my life's not too bad.

Sadly, this is true, though most people wouldn't want to admit it. Studies have shown that people who are attractive recieve better wages, better jobs, promotions and more opportunities then less attractive people. Some may argue that this is because attractive people are more out-going and confident, if that makes any difference, I don't know.

I think being intelligent depends on what you do with that intelligence. Though obviously, intelligent people don't generally do menial work.

Of course.

Being attractive gives the people around you good impression about you, thus give you an slight advantage.

Being intelligent helps yourself to solve problems you encounter.

So these 2 qualities together will make your life much easier and better.

Depends how you put it to a positive factor. Good looking will
help as a salesman, intelligence in a fast growing corporation,
or in a takeover. Together, the two assets certainly can make
life easier if you do not snob the lesser and maintain a humble
posture. In a sly way pretend that you are equal to others, it will
also help because jealous people can become a nasty stumbling
block.

The attractive part has no bearing, but intelligence does - it makes it both easier and better to live a happy, wonderful life.

Absolutely ! This has been studied over and over. Taller men are most likely to get a job or a promotion iver a shorter man.
Attractive women are more likely to get a job or promotion over an ugly woman.

Think about it this way. You have to look at that person all day every day for years to come. You will see your co-workers more than your own spouse.

Do you want to look at an ugly person or an attractive person?
Do you want to work with a moron or an intelligent person?
Do you want to work with a pervert or a decent human being?

You really don't need to have a study to understand it...

Intelligence can stop you getting screwed over, so yes, it helps make like easier.

Being attractive stops you being invisable and people give more of their time to speak to you than if you were unattractive. This opens up oportunities in work, relationships and general wellbeing because if people are nicer to you then you should be happier. And happiness effects motivation so all in all being attractive does make a positive difference in your life.
