I have rather thick, dark hair but very sensitive, fair skin. Despite waxing my legs and bikini line for years, the hairs have never gotten any finer, and I have endless problems with ingrowing hairs....they actually grow back straight, under a layer of skin. I've used body scrubs and exfoliators, depilatory creams and epilators, even expensive lotion for ingrown hairs which only served to make my skin peel off in layers......with hairs still trapped underneath further down.

My skin is translucent and the dark trapped hairs are really obvious. If I resort to shaving, the severed hair shaft is so dark that I look like a plucked chicken.

How can I get smooth, beautiful, hair free skin like everyone else who waxes? I've tried three beauty therapists for waxing but none brought better results. Don't tell me I'm stuck with looking pimply and stubbly for good...........

Ever tried electrolysis? Its a slow and repetitive method, and not very cheap, but it could be useful

I have found that Kalo hair growth minimiser definitely results in finer, softer regrowth. Hair growth seems slower and it may even stop it completely with long term use.

You could also try using the Rio home laser system, which is a lot more economical than salon laser treatments. However, it can only be used on small patches of skin at a time...

Hi. My wife has very dark hair and very pale skin and you are both perfect candidates for Laser (her treatment was called Epil Pro). The light of the laser only travels down dark hair shafts and explodes the follicle (not painful). Fair and Blonde hair dont carry the light so dont work. The pale skin makes it even more effective.

She has had her legs, underarms, bikini line and face done - and she is now 100% hair free - permanently.

It's costly but worth it!

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

There is a cheap method of preventing any of the aforementioned problems after your chosen method of hair removal.......

get a very attentive boyfriend... who will pluck out any ingrowers with a pair of tweezers whilst you watch TV... as for the bikini line go the whole hog ang give it a once over every time you shower with a fresh razor.

you might even get a box of choccies and a good seeing to every now and again.

LASER hair removal may be best suited for those who have dark hair on light skin, but before you rule yourself out as a candidate for this procedure, it is advisable to talk to a dermatologist. Good Luck!
