Yes it can , a shark needs constant flow through its gills have you ever seen a shark swim backwards ?

I read where it says that if you move a shark back and forth in the water it will drown because it can not properly displace the needed oxygen through it's gills properly. I hope that this helps! Good Luck!

No. Dragging a fish backwards through the water is a common method of resusitating fish that have been out of the water for a while. It forces oxygenated water though their gills.

as far as I know sharks need to constantly keep moving to keep enough oxygen in their blood and by dragging them backwards you would pretty much send water in the wrong way....
