I have a 2 month grandson. Tried different formulas, goats milk, soy is worse. nothing we tried will stay down. He eats fast so, we slow him down. You move him and it will come back up, sometimes even through his nose and scares him. He hold his breathe. When he wakes up his nose needs sucked out..Tried Rice Cereal it seems to stay down better. He developed thusher. Get it cleared feed him formula and it is back..
So tonight a friend of mine told me to try reg milk and water it down good. So I tried 1 oz to 3 water. He drank it, burped good WITHOUT throwing it up. He slept for 4 hours. (usually not more than 2 hrs at since birth.) So good I got worried about him and woke him up. he was hard to wake up. I changed his diaper, tickeled him, he responded but asleep. He seemed clamy and pale. No white spots and didn't have to clean nose out. Eat formula, threw it all up. had to clean nose and mouth Will the diltated milk hurt him. Is there a reaction happening of some sort

Talk to your pediatrician first, but I have heard of infants having to have milk instead of formula. There is a prescription that you can get from the doctor that you put into the milk that will add the needed nutrition that milk cannot supply. I do not know what it is called, but your doctor will know.

I had this problem with all of my kids and it wasn't until my 8 month old daughter that they figured out what it was. It just wasn't common when I had my other two so it wasn't really addressed. It's acid reflux. Sometimes when babies are premature or smaller the "lid" to their stomach doesn't fully develop so whatever they drink just runs right back up especially when they have been laid down, etc, sometimes it happens and you don't even know it because the formula just goes right back down the air passages and doesn't come out as spit up, etc. That's why your baby is doing the holding the breath thing. He is compensating for that (smart kid). Two big signs of this problem are if the baby's snot looks like formula or same color, etc, and if they are constantly arching their back, kinda throwing themselves into a back bend? The acid from the stomach will give them sore throat if it's bad and make them very fussy. You will need to get your baby in asap to get them checked and they will probably give you some medicine for this. Because the more that this happens the more stomach acids accumulate and eat away at what there is of the "lid" just worsening the effect. The one thing you need to watch for is to make sure never lay the baby flat on stomach or back, always keep them at at least a 30 degree incline. They make special wedges for this. It's kind of a pain but well worth it. Secondly, make sure to feed just a little at a time, also a pain but it's harder to have it roll back if they are inclined and stomach not full to the brim. I also switched my daughter to gentle ease formula which is already broken down and all her body has to do is absorb it which helped with her gas and fussiness (it just disappeared after about a month of these 3 things) she magically started gaining weight and was a whole new baby. She only had to be on the anti-acid meds for about 3 months and that's because I was overly cautious. You can google baby reflux and you will find out tons. I'd bet 100 bucks that is what the doctor is going to tell you is wrong. If it gets really bad surgery could be needed so start those suggestions in the mean time. Best of luck and let me know how it goes!

Get the baby to the doctor asap. My daughter suffered very similar problems at seven months of age. She aspirated formula into her lungs and was misdiagnosed. She almost died. It really has nothing to do with the formula or food. It is the flap that opens and closes in the esophagus. It is either to weak or not formed properly. They will need to do an upper GI . It is a harmless test and it will find the problem quickly. If this is the diagnosis there is a medicine that will treat it and resolve the problem. My daughter was on the medicine for 3 months and then no longer need it. She is 4 going on 5 and has no other pro0problems since. Good Luck.

My in-laws told me that all they could do was feed there children whole milk, because they threw up everything else. I don't think they had meth in there system. You defently need to let the doctor know what you are doing and see if you can get the baby a vitamin supplement, or maybe the doctor will have some other ideas of what you can do.

thrush is from not cleaning the bottles properly and not keeping the sterilized from the germs. if you are feeding a fromula that contains lipil, that could be your problem, lipil is a type of sea weed that most babies are allergic too. i know mine were. do not give him regular milk, even if it is watered down, it does not contain the vitamins and minerals that formula does. it will also make him VERY constipated and even though his teeth are not anywhere near in, it will not help them at all, sorry sister is a dentist. it can cause them to be fragile and weak and can also cause cavities later. not good for the teeth. my husbands sister in law gave her baby regular milk and she had the most miserable babyfor about 4 months. she is also looking like ms. michellin man. another thing about the teeth is that it can make them rot before they are replaced by the adult teeth. try formula with rice cereal in it or with rice cereal and baby food fruit in it. talk to you pediatrician and see what is going on. hope all goes well and i hope this helps.....holly

You should not be feeding him waterd down whole milk at his age... First off he needs some sort of formula or breast milk. Regular milk will not meet the required nutritional values that are needed for development. You are just depriving him of things.

You really need to sit down with his pediatrician...and discuss the options. I know there are breast milk banks that you could probably get milk from that may be better for him but PLEASE dont give him watered down milk anymore.

Babies NEED formula or breast milk for at least the first 12 months. There is a formula by Enfamil called "AR" it's a thicker formula for babies who frequently spit up. I suggest you pick up a small can and try that. Talk to your ped. That's what they're there for.
