Oh Geez...my hometown is Gettysburg, so there are tons of places to take tourists. If I had to pick two, I suppose it would be Devil's Den, which is where a lot of the fighting took place, and the field where Pickett's Charge took place.

My hometown is Frostproof, Florida. I haven't been there in 10 years or so, but the number one attraction there is Paul and Joe's Pool Room. Playing pool isn't the attraction. They make the best hamburgers I have ever had. They use ground sirloin, they toast the buns, and they have some kind of stuff made out of Cole slaw and onions that they mix up daily and pile it on every burger. Then we would go down to the lake shore picnic tables on Clinch Lake and eat the burgers. Other than watching the street light change, those are the big attractions there..... I don't fish, or I would just spend all day fishing with them.

I live in Thuringowa/Townsville ( twin cities-cros the street from 1 you are in the other) in North Queensland ; Australia
I regularly take visitors to the top of Castle Hill - which is the highest point in the area & gives a good general overview of the size of the place & also out to the Ross River Dam - which is our water catchment as it is a good drive out to the dam & in doing so you cross from one side of the combined cities to the other passing through both of them

I live near Glastonbury, so the question's easy - the ruins of the Abbey, and the Chalice Well (a 14th century healing spring).

Or, to get closer to a larger town, Wells: the Cathedral, and the market.

Hope that helps your project.
