I have played many violent video games ..but not felt the need to go out and kill afterwards.

Yes you could ban them, or dampen them down but people will always find other sources of the entertainment they crave.

To blame computer game manufacturers for the violence some people attribute to them is like blaming the manufacturers of kitchen knives for a stabbing.

Shops should not sell to underage users and parents should control what goes on in their own homes. Beyond that if someone is incited to violence by playing a game, then they are likely to be incited to the same by a tv show (including crimewatch and the news) or a film, or a book .. or anything.

It is easy for people to lay the blame (especially these days with nice little lawsuits waiting round the corner) but a 'normal' person is not affected by such games and in most cases merely finds them entertaining until real life calls again and the game console is switched off again.

The game makers and the players. Violence is so much a part of our lives we have been desensitized to it. I have noticed even the Tom and Jerry cartoons are violent. I have young children and I block a lot of things on TV because of it. They can watch animal planet, and discovery health, times and science. They can watch the travel channel. I can't stop them from watching other things outside the home but I try not to let them play violent games or watch violent TV.
Discovery health shows them what happens when you do a violent act and it's consequences so I'm not totally shielding them from everything. But I try to teach them that violence is not the answer to settle disputes.

The parent's. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and there was plenty of killings in the westerns and cop shows on tv, but my parents taught me right from wrong, and what is reality and what is fantasy.

The makers for making them and the governments for allowing them to make them and parents for buying them for their young kids.
