You can't make any jewellery with 22 carats in the first place. Indians just belive this lie generations after generations. May be as per Indian standard 22 carat means 16 carat.

It depends from which shop you are buying your jewellery. You have to see whether it is a genuine shop or not.

Tribhovan Das Zaveri at Janpath, Connaught Place, Delhi is a genuine shop.We are buying gold from there for the last 24 years with no complaints in their quality or purity. There the gold is pure. You can rely on their gold.

There is a way to check the carats, it involves some special chemicals!

I am not sure that they will allow you to check that on site, it happens only when you buy quantities !

I use to work in a jewelry shop/lab and there we had equipment and chemicals

I don't know how you can make sure that it is pure gold....but yes most of their gold is not pure it's mixed with some other mineral even while it is in the ground....before mining......If you want pure gold, they are mined mostly in South Africa...where they have the best gold in the world so I'm told. I cannot explain further, I've told you what I've come across on the internet.
