There is some water in nearly everything that you eat, but if someone didn't ingest any form of fluid I would say about 3-4 days. You can go a LONG time without eating, though I wouldn't recommend it, but only a very short time without fluid. Death is slow this way, but as your body begins to shut down you would feel less and less pain. Your internal organs stop working, tissue begins to die, and at a point you wont even feel thristy anymore. You would be laying in bed dying long before you actually die and may end up in an 'unresponsive' state. It's not a pretty way to go, trust me I work in a nursing home and see it all the time, when people just will no longer eat or drink anything.

The US military did a study years ago on this subject. Volunteers typically went three to four days, three the norm. After that it was predicted that death would be imminent. No one volunteered to finish the study ! Food was a different study. Up to thirty days with water available.

3 days. But if you drink water and don't eat, you can last up to 3 weeks, albeit being very ill and incredibly weak. Why would you want to?
