Yes, in a way most people do because it is in the back of their
minds. This should not be encouraged however, it is very
difficult to completely shut off a winning spell or a mistake
and/or losing run. Ask a trader, or floor broker. They often go
nuts before they turn forty years old, few people know when
enough is enough. Business success is a competition, and,
like any other, all involved want to be ahead which can lead to
greed and a major stumbling block. That is why a holiday is
a great energy revival, however some can not live a decent
holiday, they always will be be thinking that somebody is up
to some unfair deal whilst he is away.

Yes I used to until I quit two weeks ago. It was consuming my life-the bosses and co workers and the general air around the place was toxic for me, and I realized that life is too short and I had to leave after 20 years there. Even on vacation I would worry that they would find something wrong because that is what they did. Called you at home to ask you questions when you were off. Now I am in business for myself and I don't think about it at all like my old job. It may depend on the job too but I think that it has to do with how much pressure these bosses put on you. Some people could just shrug it off but I couldn't.I feel free now. It is NOT incompetence but the opposite-you care TOO much-I know that I did. Now I don't care what happens to that place.

It may well be but I have spoken to my pals about this not so long ago, my friend sometimes wakes up with her heart racing and sweating cause she worries about work I had an episode like that this morning, I don't know why but I kept thinking of paperwork that I knew I had done on Fri cause it was the last thing I did, but I was lying there half asleep with my heart racing wondering if I had done it! I think its all in us to be a bit neurotic sometimes, others are better at hiding it than others!

I do, my job is really stressful and Im constantly terrified that Im going to f*ck up and get sacked, cos its such a good job and high paid, more than I ever thought I would get at my age. So sometimes I go home and fret over whether I have forgotton to do anything, or if I have done things right. It would prob help if I didnt f*ck about on Yahoo Answers during the day!

Yes I do. Even when I tell myself that I won't I still end up doing it. For the most part I do love what I do but at times some of the staff I work around makes you think how did they ever graduate school.

all the time - it's called stress. If you get stressed out, it's because you care about your job. It's easy for people to say you should switch off but it's not so easy to do that when you have a responsible job.
However, don't let it rule your life. If it's unbearable, then the job may not be suitable for you, and you should think about changing.
Just do not let it affect your health. You have to know where to draw the line

No, why should I? Unless you have done something wrong and the constant worrying is getting the better of you!
Relax, enjoy your time off work, do something that you enjoy! Why waste it on thinking about work while your life is passing by...

The only time I think about work when I am not there is to pray it burns to the ground. As to your last two questions; maybe and maybe.

Stress, sheer stress. But thinking about colleagues is different when they are people with whom you are friendly and know in an out of work context.
