Twitching and cramps can often be caused by lack of Magnesium in the diet. Spinach, beef, greens, tofu, cashew nuts, and wheat bran are good natural sources of magnesium... but getting a 6 year old to eat and enjoy then might be a different story!
But, it would probably be best to go and see the doctor, and then at least you will have peace of mind.

First of all, 1. take him to a doctor
It could be many things ranging from a thyroid problem, (an underactive one). The solution would be Quinine but this has side effects, he then may have to have thyroid pills.
It could be a lack of excerise, not enough of a certain vitamins or a vitamin, or even growing pains.
Second of all:
But what I would do is check on the internet what vitamins which are lacked, creates these symptoms, then get some and take them

Cramp is usual caused by lack of vegetable salts.
If you do not get enough vegetable salts you will suffer cramps all the time.
Ordinary table salt or cooking salt is no good as a substitute.
When you are active as much as a child you will burn up the salts in your body faster than you put then in.
I have treated my wife when the doc said there was nothing wrong. the camp was in her diaphragm and very nearly took her life.
I have suffered from cramps if I do no get enough vegetable to eat in one week.

Do you have health insurance?
It's true that many are turning to Yahoo answers for their medical care and advice here in the USA, it's so sad, I wish you the best. If you can, take him to a Doctor somehow.

Make sure your son is drinking plenty of water. Dehydration can also cause cramp. I get awful cramp in my left calf when I don't drink enough water.

It certainly is not growing pains. Please take your Son to his Doctor for proper advice. Could be anything from too much salt; too little salt; circulation, etc.
