The Shining scares me, it's quite psychological rather than blood and guts

Horror films aren't scary. It's ironic but its true. Watch those messed up movies like The Devils Rejects or other movies by Rob Zombie

If you can find them, because they have been banned in so many countries, there are a series of films entitled Guineapig... they are from Japan. They are not so much scary as disturbing... as for scary, I suggest Last House on the Left or any of the Friday the 13th films... if it gore you are after, check out hostel

I have tried to watch The Grudge 3 times to no avail. I get about a half an hour in and have to switch it off!! I have tried putting the sound on mute and tried to sit behind a cushion. Nothing works, I just cannot watch it, it is way to scary for my liking!!!

Watch "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" with Bette Davis- it's old (1954 I think) but it scared my pants off and I have been reading and watching horror since age 5 (more than 30 years)

i love horror also, but the film that has always stuck out in my mind is "the haunted" as it is a true story. it starred sally kirkland, and was made sometime ago, not sure of the year though. dont get mixed up with any of the same titles though, as there are a few films with this title. scared the c**p out of me !!!

The original version of the Amityville Horror. Much better than the remake which added visble ghosts and other crap. It relies solely on suggestion and the power of your imagination. Scared the living daylights out of me !
