Well i have been suffering from the same problem. My dad gave me this solution. It has helped me control a lot. earlier i used to smoke a packet in a day, now i really hate to smoke. May be it works for you.
The next time you feel you want a cigg. have a packet feel the tar's power in your hand. feel how delighted you are to have this object with you, do not speed up just be calm and feel every moment of smoking.
Slowly open the packet and see the glare in your eyes compared to the tarcol in your lungs. feel free to take one out of the packet. rotate it in your hands sevral of times. sniff its heavnly fragnance, slowly place it on your lips, light it up and get lost in the tar and tobbaco fume. How pure your body and sould would be feeling to have this deadly tar.smoke it out and all your body relaxex out. Take another *** and feel the entire heaven entring your lungs. the gods prasing for you to have a more ***. rotate the smoke in your mouth n lungs. repete this sevral of times. enjoy each n every ***. Get the full out of it. enjoy the cough, enjoy the smok rings. enjoy death moving inside you body in place of which will burn the remaining of oxygen there
slowly you will find its meaningless stuff and quit

Break the pattern. Most smokers have a cigarette after a meal, or when they get home from work, or at lunchtime, or whatever. Figure out what the triggers are, and avoid them.
Do you have any friends or family that smoke? Tell them you can't see or socialize with them for at least a month - the fact is, when addicts of whatever type get together, they reinforce each other's habit.
If you live with a smoker, you have little chance of kicking the habit - you either have to quit together, or you need to move out - yes, it's really that bad. Nicotine is highly addictive, and if you are around others that smoke, you'll fall back into addiction.
Some believe hypnotism helps - it certainly can't hurt. Also, acupuncture can aleviate the desire to smoke. See if either of these is covered on your medical plan.
Many companies have 'stop smoking' plans through their HR departments. If yours has one, join it - or join a local quit smoking club. Having others going through this with you can be a huge help.

If your smoking frequencies is limited to 8-10 then it's not harming much. If it is more, then you must set a limit. Buy single packet and be mentally strong not to buy another till a 'set' days (like 2 or 3 days). Smoke where no one is near you. Smoke one cigarette twice (like extinguishing at the middle & then finishing at second time). Smokers urge to smoke which may be satisfied by 3-4 puffs so don't finish at a single go. Start the process gradually and I hope you will suceed to a limit of 3-4 ciggaretes a day within a month. Good luck.

You'll only be able to quit if you really really want to because it's not an easy thing to do but it is a really good thing to do. The thing you're doing by going back to it after a few days is a shame because you have been through the hardest time of the first day without a smoke. You must keep yourself busy, esepecially your hands. Maybe it's time to take up a new hobby? Patches & gum & stuff like that can help but you have to wean yourself off them anyhow.

Its not just the nicotine. Its also the other 50+ chemicals they out in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as 'my body needs something, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these 'my body needs something' sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the 'want something' feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we've had one we still have the feeling, and want another!

it's all up to you.. if you really want to quit from your smoking habbit, then you mustn't smoke for several weeks or months.. lately, your smoking habbit will stop by itself.. try to chew some gums or eat some candy to change your smoke..

Determination?
Throw all your cigarettes out and eat sweets to take your mind off the urge to smoke.
If all else fails, go back to live with your mother and tell her make sure you don't so much as touch a cigarette. She'll be sure to do that...and more.

Try my way. Think like that ~ "smoking brings me nothing, although no smoking brings me nothing". When urge to smoke comes strongly, repeat it again & again. It is a few day's excercise, beleive me.

The stronger the will power to quit, the easier it will be. As an alternative to smoking, try chewing gum whenever you feel the urge to smoke.
