That is a common rethoric strategy to stir interest in the issue while attempting to shift the perspective to your own position. The way to get rid of such move is to refer back inmediately to the question you asked first, defining terms to then with those terms defined attempt to answer your oponents question. How can we call them? mm, in Socrates' times they were called sophists, today we can probably call them Demagogs, lol. Kiddding, It;s nothing to fear, if this strategy is used in formal dialogue or debate then brush it off by reinforcing your own question, but if it's part of a common everyday quarrell, the person who does this is just signaling to you that he is not ready yet to answer your question, it's an implicit way of saying: i" don't know the anser, why don;t you help me with some so i can come back at you with your own answer"

Only good rethoricians and logicians know how to use this strategy properly and to defend against it even better. But the common everyday folk when attempting to use this strategy all they do is take one step forward to the defeat of their position, which almost inevitabilly ends up in either screams or blows. oh humans, what are we gonna do with ourselves. LOL

I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it's merely a form of expression, or a way of making an analogy, invoking thought or causing people to realize or understand the point.
