cannibalism means eating human flesh out of anxiety some people bite their finger nails. no need to worry if that nail accidentally swallowed by you.

It's actually called "accidental cannibalism". HAHA!
Have you ever tried clipping your nails around a dog. Why does the dog pounce on the clippings and eat them like its a delicacy??

Hello Zoeksalamander,
I have a simpe answer for you:
No, nail biting is no aspect of canibalism, however .... in modern academic psychology nail biting is considered as a form of SELF-MUTULATION.
My suggestion to get rid of this unwanted habit is to become more aware of the psychology behind your unwanted habit. You can read more about the psychology of nail biting at:
http://www.handresearch.com/finger-nails/fingernail-biting.htm
(this website describes 17 aspects of nail biting)
Good luck!

Do you find you crave more? How about chapped lips? You know, those little pieces you peel off and swallow.
BTW, more nutritional value in skin cells, basically zero in keratin (nails.)

No, it's not cannibalism, you haven't killed and eaten the flesh of another human being.
But there is a bloodless, intellectual form of cannibalism -- and that's when you gossip about someone, especially if it's viscous spreading of hearsay.

No, because your nails are not flesh. It is not cannibalism to eat hair either.
