Anybody else think that these two or anyother players are gonna get released

The will most likely release Joe Torre but A-Rod is a different story. If they let him go out right, which I think will not happen, they would have to honor the remainder of his contract. To trade him would be the best thing but I'm sure whoever wants him will only be willing to paid part of his salary. The Yankees would still be on the hook for a portion of it. If the Yankees could do a mult-player deal for him that might get them off the hook for all of his salary.

Bernie Williams will retire. Sadly there will be no room for him on the roster. I always thought that if he could reach 300 home runs and 2500 hits that might be enough to put him in the hall of fame. I just can't see him in another uniform. Bernie is a Yankee!!

Randy Johnson is history. He'll have to get his 300th win somewhere else. Too many back problems and his fastball doesn't move anymore.

Jason and Gary will be gone. Jason is no big loss but I'll like to keep Gary. The man can still hit!!

The Yankees need pitching in the worse way. Cashman has to flood the market this winter and bring in some good young arms. I don't know how effective Barry Zito would be but I would try and make him a deal he couldn't refuse.

If Pennela becomes manager and they keep Larry Bowa, someone is going to get killed!! Frankly I don't like either one on the team.

Stienbrenner will not be a very popular guy this week if he fires Joe. Eleven years as manager. 11 division titles, 6 pennants and 4 world series championships. Who has done more since 1996?

Wow what a question.

Let's deal with A-Rod first. The Yankees will never release him. They might try and trade him but he has a no-trade clause, so they'd need his permission to be traded and IF he decides he needs a change of scenery then he'll tell them which teams he'd accept a trade to. His much talked about salary would stop most teams from taking him but the one thing that nobody has talked about yet is this - The Texas Rangers are still on the hook for part of that 25 million a year. The Yankees don't assume his full payroll for a little bit yet. Now Texas may have a clause that says if the Yankees trade him then they are off the hook financially speaking. But either way - if it was guaranteed, I mean even if Babe Ruth's ghost came down and promised George that A-rod would never play well in the post season. I still think you have to keep a player of that talent. He practically guarantees you 100 RBI's and 35 HR's a year and he's the kind of player that GETS you to the postseason. I hope he stays but if he wants out then A-rod is gone.... hopefully to the NL.

Torre - how can you fire this guy. Look what he's done in the past 11 seasons. Any owner would be happy with those results, unless they are spending 180+ million a season. If George gives himself time to calm down then he'll likely keep Torre but Joe is slated to make 7 million this year and that's a lot of money for a manager. I hope he stays and I think he likely will but it might be his last chance, win or he's out next season.

I think there could be a lot of things that happen to this team, ie - Giambi, Sheff, Liddle and so on but you didn't ask about them.

They are under contract and can't be "released". They Yankees would owe Torre about $7 million and A-Rod I don't know how much but trust me its more than most of us make 6 lifetimes. They may buy out Torre to get a new Manager but A-Rod would be really expensive to cut loose even by their standards.

A-Rod, definately. He is a poison to any team to whatever team that he as played for. He makes bad chemistry for whatever team that he is on. Torre, no, and it's because he is a good manager, and he proved it as such when, during the course of the season when there were lots of major injuries, he helped to overcome it.
As for other players who are going to be released, don't be surprised to see Randy Johnson, Jarrett Wright, Jason Giambi, and perhaps Mike Mussina as well. Let's not forget as well both the hitting and as well as the pitching coaches to be gone as well. As for the players, however, it is going to be difficult only because they have such huge salaries, that may not find it too attractive for others to pick it up. If they do get rid of them, the Yankees are going to have to put up a bundle of money in the process in doing so.

I continuously like Torre a) as a participant whilst he hit into the DP that made the Mets the 1969 NL East Champions, b) as a supervisor with the Mets and the 1982 Braves, and c) using fact the Yankees and Dodgers supervisor; and that i think of this guy is very credible and regardless of he says is "gospel." i think A-Rod is a "problem in the clubhouse" and there has continuously been some "friction" between him and Derek Jeter, whether Jeter might in no way make every person conscious of this, i think A-Rod is a distraction, and his settlement motives issues. money is a difficulty for the time of baseball with the gamers, there is often jealousy. Cashman is a puppet and hatchet guy for Steinbrenner, and that i think Joe replaced into "spent time to dry," by making use of the way they made him that final ffer whilst he walked, that replaced into particularly shoddy. i ought to purchase this e book.

Joe Torre is going to be fired. I know they'll try to move A-Rod but he has a no trade clause so it might be tough. Anyway, I have to get ready to watch my team play Wednesday. Thats right, the other New York team still has games left to play =)

Torre is gone. They will ask him to leave in a classy way, which he will do. And Mussina, Sheffield, Lidle and Bernie will be gone. And A-Rod? Not sure. Yankees will not give him away. They will be looking for something big back from another team like Pitching.

I think that both will be released. You don't just take that much talent into the post-season and get eliminated in the first round....again! Torre and A-Rod are going to be packing.
