The person who took the bag may have needed those clothes as desperatly as the Salvation Army, you just don't know. But good on you for giving away unused things. Here in Australia we have Charity Bins where you can put donations and people, usually street kids climb into the bin to not only sleep but also get clean warm clothes.
This behaviour is a sign of the times, where the gap between rich and poor is at it's largest margin ever known.
It's a sad inditment on the world.

That is terrible, I don't know if you saw the news last week about that happening in Richmond in North Yorkshire, people were leaving bags of things out for Heart Research and some thieving rotters were nicking the bags of stuff for themselves, they think its a gang operating from Eastern Europe and they are selling the clothes on and making huge amounts of money, I am appalled that people can steal from charities like that, I think the best thing we can do is to take the bags of unwanted items straight to the charity shops or ring the charity workers up and ask them to call at a particular time and knock on your door for the items, what a sad world its becoming when people are stealing from charities, sorry it happened to you but hopefully my telling you about this gang might be of help to you and people you know.

Unfortunately this is what Britain has come to....kind , law abiding people like you are abused by low life scum. What will Britain be like in another 20 years time. There's no wonder people are emmigrating in their droves. My American friend has just moved from one part of the country to another and the previous owners of her house said they haven't locked their doors for 8 years. Pure Heaven, hey ? Next time, get a Charity bag and fill it with kitchen scraps and general rubbish and put it out for this scumbag to take.(Make sure the charity are not going to collect that day )

Yes. I can believe it.
Some years ago I stacked into blue plastic bags for the dustmen to collect, some 5 or 6 years worth of the Mayfair magazine (they'd be collector items now), and I went of to work (night duty).
On my return I discovered that during the night 'my dustbin had been Burgled.'
Well, not 'literally' as the bags were stashed amidst the dustbins.
Sash.

It is always sad to see charity shops on Sundays, with the bags people have left outside ripped to shreds from where thieves rummaged through to see what they could find. It's not safe to leave any donations in the street, even outside your own front door. But I realised that theft had plumbed new depths when my mother found gaps in her front garden just before Mothering Sunday one year where her carefully tended spring flowers had been dug up!

Well, I hate to say it but regardless of where you are in the world, you should never put much faith in the honesty of people and so never leave anything out and unattended because the minute something can be taken it will be.Unless, of course, you want just anyone to take whatever you leave out.In this case you wanted the Salvation Army to have it and so you should have waited until they arrived and give it to them in person. That would be the best thing to do.

Hmm, I guess it must be, also the blatancy of stealing is amazing, only the other day when i was in a traffic queue did i see some girl carting off a portable TV that had been left in a Charity Shop doorway. I can only conclude that these people are too selfish to realise that they are depriving some needy person somewhere.
I hope they read my comments too, selfish ******** !!

I believe some vans also trawl the streets and pick up the bags put out for charities and then sell the items at car boot sales and alike.

Modern day Britain sounds like modern day USA. A few days ago, someone stole the American flag off of my mother's porch railing. How bad is that?
