i would use a good quality kitchen and bath latex paint.

Prime with oil or shellac based primer. Paint with Gloss alkyd based paint. NO latex. I like using Rustoleum white, it's very white. Use a short napped mohair roller.

Latex will work...but if it were MY house, I'd use an exterior oil-base primer and enamel (paint.) The amount of moisture it's going to experience is incredible...oil-base still holds up better than latex.

Semi-gloss is OK...high gloss is better. Do not use a flat finish.

what ever it is, its got to be oil based otherwise it will start to peel, and make sure that you use primer first!
