Why is it that if a dog seriously bites someone (but doesnt kill them) then the dog is considered dangerous and gets put down but if a mad person or person with mental impairment/learning difficulties kills someone then its said that they "didnt have the mental capacity to know what they were doing"?
Surely dogs dont have any better a mental capacity than these people?
Would you put them to sleep too? reasons why or why not please.

I think it's wrong to kill dogs for biting and of course it would be wrong to kill a human for it. I think both should live, but when it is known that someone (whether it's a person or an animal) has the tendency to bite under some circumstances they need to be looked after well to prevent anything serious from happening. Both can be considered dangerous, but neither life should be taken away for it.

People who dont have the mental capacity can be treated, they can be given physcotherapy (sp?) and medication.
You cant give a dog anti-depressants, or talk to it to see what its problems are.

I guess it comes down to the widely held perception that human life of any type is intrinsically worth more than that of a dog...
