If its a normal portable sat-nav unit (not one built into the car's dashboard) you should have no problems.
However if your car has a solar-reflective windscreen (fitted to some air-con equipped Renaults, Peugeots and Citroëns) then the screen-mounted satellite receiver might not work, and you will need to buy an external aeriel.

If you can easily remove it the answer is yes.
If it is a stand alone unit, such as a tom tom, then you can use it in any car, and even as a hand held unit.
If you are using a different address as the 'home' address, you will have to reset that setting
