I think it costs £12 and you have to get it from the registry office in which you were registered at birth.

From the Registry Office closest to where you were born, obviously they've got a record of your birth so they can issue a new one for you; I had to get a new one a few years back, can't remember if I had to pay for it tho.

If you were born here, in the U.S., duplicate birth certificates can be obtained from the birth/death records department of your city, They will charge you a fee.

write birth records in the county that you were born in and give them the information , name, date of birth, parents name, they will send you a application and what the fee is and mail it back to them and they will send you your birth certificate...many of these offices will allow you to do this online and you pay the fee with credit card.....

If you can't get to your local records office, you can go online at : http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/. This is the official website and I got my replacement within a few days.
