Is this the first time it's been like this for you? What other problems are you having? Is your period heavy? Are you passing large blood clots? It is very important that if this is the first time you have had these problems, that you make note of what's going on. And if you have these symptoms again, you must see your doctor.

Are you on any form of birth control or hormone therapy? If you are you need to go to your doctor, those types of symptoms should not be happening if you are on birth control.

If this is not the first time your period has been like this, you need to see your doctor. A period should not be painful, it should not be heavy, and it should not ruin your life. If that's what is happening, then there could be medical reasons for it. There are many things that your doctor will be able to do for you to help with the problems you are having. Birth control, be it the pill, an implant, or a shot, can do a great deal of help. They all regulate your hormones, making sure that you do not have painful or heavy periods. I know starting to take birth control is a big step, especially if you are young, but they do far more than just prevent you from being pregnant, so don't be afraid of taking it. Your health is more important than being nervous about taking birth control. If there is a medical reason to be on some form of hormone treatment, not taking it could do you more harm than good.

For the mean time this is the best thing you can do to help your pain, and ease how you feel:
Take tylenol and ib profen together, following the directions, throughout the day. Try to take it easy, lots of people will advise that exercise is good, but it's only useful for normal periods, if you are doubled over in pain, then exercise will only make it worse. Try to use either a hot water bottle or heat pad, the heat will help with pain. And try to relax the best that you can, there is help out there if and when you need it.

Advil or Ibuprophen will help eleviate some of the discomfort, don't bother with tylenol. Try laying on your back and elevating your legs as this should take some of the pressure off. Sometimes a nice warm bath can also help. If this is a constant problem for you you may want to see a doctor. If you suffer from severe PMS symptoms it could be hormonal or something more serious.

Oh my gosh I am soo with ya right now. Okay I swear by this remedy. Take an old tube sock and fill it with uncooked rice. Tie the end of the sock off and heat it in the microwave for 1 minute. Take the heated sock and roll it up and down your stomach where the cramps are....the rice acts as a massager! Let me know if it helps.

Heat bag, mild painkillers, gentle exercise, drink lots of water. If your cramps are stopping you from participating in day to day activities you might want to consider seeing a doctor to get some medication to lessen your pain. Good luck!

Magnesium can help get rid of cramps because it helps to activate the enzymes needed to release energy in the body. Spinach, beef, green, brocolli, cashew nuts and wheat bran are all natural sources. If you add these foods into your daily diet then you might notice a difference, or get an off-the-shelf supplement.

You may need to go to the emergency room. Sometimes the answer isn't as simple as taking vitamins or over the counter pills. You need to make sure you aren't having something else going on...like a ruptured appendix. If it's THAT bad, you need to go.

Sometimes cramps is a sign of lack of calcium....if so it could help to drink / eat more milk, yoghurts and cheese.

If you do, your situation should improve within a few days.
