Theres many different aspects to it, are there kids, how old are they? Children are pretty resilent, as long as its amicable they should be ok, if it isnt then things are going to be harder on them. Dont bad mouth the father, dont let them hear you fight, etc. Its the best thing if both of you are fighting and yelling and unhappy kids pick up on that stuff and thats bad for them so sometimes divorce is best. Other family will be ok and get over it, if there are no kids then things should work out. Its a painful process but it'll be ok.
And I dont think it ruins a family if what I said above is true. Its better for parents to be divorced than to yell and fight and have all that anger around the children.

It all depends on the particular Family and how well they are at providing a well balanced, nurturing and commitment towards fulfilling the needs of the others.
Divorce does not have to be futile, and in some cases can be very Healthy for those in concern.
People need to maintain Balance, and reassurance that sometimes it's no fault of anybody, but a mistake that needs to be reconsidered.
The Marriage should not be initiated lightly, the effects of a bad Marriage can be more devastating than a nice Divorce.

Children will be effected in different ways depending on the age and circumstances surrounding the divorce. If the husband and wife can't find a way to do it responsibly the negative effects on the children will magnify greatly.

I caught Dr. Phil telling this to a couple on tv recently;
Children will always find a way to blame themselves for what happens to their parents.

well the great impact is not on both parties (husband & wife) but the great blow will be on the children (if any)

whc party gets the custody , who the children choose to follow so and , and so forth .....if u cld make ur children u'stand divorce is the onli solution to rectifie the prblm than its ok

mainly in divorce it always the children who become the victims !! other than the separation of familyness.....well they ll grow to be bit diffirent than other kids (complete family of coz) but than again not all turn out bad .....its hhow u bring them up and how u get them to u'stand that wat u r doing is gd for them now and the future....
