Here is the visine webpage with the product information:

Obviously this information is on the visine bottle/box as well, but maybe you didnt get a chance to look at it. As in the warnings:

Stop use and ask a doctor if

you feel eye pain
changes in vision occur
redness or irritation of the eye lasts
condition worsens or lasts more than 72 hours

SO to answer your question, I'd say if your sisters eye problems have lasted over three days she probably should see her doctor because there might be something more wrong with her eyes, or maybe your doctor has medicine that will better clear up the problem. Or maybe the doctor will simply tell your sister to keep using the visine. But at least she'll have been checked out and she'll know things are okay.

As for the person who said his girlfriend uses visine all the time...maybe she should consider seeing a doctor too. She is having trouble lubricating her eyes, so maybe there is somethign wrong with her tear ducts, etc.

To put it simply, it is not normal to HAVE to use visine every day, so you'll want to get the problem fixed if it goes on for too long. Good luck!

Visine is called a vasoconstrictor, medicine that restricts the blood flow to the eye, therefore relieving the redness in the eyes. If you think about it, do you really want to constrict blood flow (which carries oxygen) on a regular basis? It can cause more serious problems down the road. Maybe your sister should reconsider regular use of the eye drops.

<>Usually, if there is any side effect to the use of Visine, it becomes apparent almost immediately (for instance, If I use Visine, it irritates my eyes rather than soothes them). The more important questions are: What is the extent of her injury and who told her to use Visine to treat it? Did a doctor tell her this?
