I recently saw Chris Martin from Cold Play perform on Extras and previous to that on Friday night with Johnathon Ross. My wife bought there last album and I quite like it but I have to say I was very unimpressed with his perfomance when singing live. His vocals just sounded incredibly weak. Did anyone see either of these shows and is he the same when they play on tour?
Am I being overly critical?

Think anyone can sing live... but question is how well haha...

In studio recordings, they get loads of chances in recording and re-recording tracks plus remastering till the vocals get real good and crisp...

However in a live situation, many factors can come into play...
e.g.
- sore / bad throat...
- spoilt microphones / speakers that may distort his voice...
- even the sound crew would affect his performance... feedback vocals on his earpiece may be too soft as compared to the overwhelming crowd...
- cold weather does affect vocal performance too...

Many things came into play... :)
But i seriously think Chris Martin can sing live... and is pretty much good at it :)

I saw Coldplay at Earls Court last year and if I'm honest with you before I went I liked Coldplay but wasn't there biggest fan, their music was ok but would never rush out to buy an album - However this all changed after seeing them perform, Chirs Martin was amazing, his singing was amazing, the band was just amazing.
Admitidly he may not hit every note his goes for but the man is such a performer, his voice was pretty sweet that night.
Forget Extra's - its all about watching them live!!!
Hope this helps

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/GrXol

I thought he sounded awful. On stage he sounds great but then its amazing what modern technology can do.
