It is a job I dread. It seems like I usually spend 45 minutes wrestling with the thing before it is finally (sort of) together. There must be a right way of doing it!

Yes. Turn the cover inside out, then put your arms in (like your putting on a shirt!) reach into both far corners, grab the material, grab the two corners of the quilt - and shake it down! It works every time!

An easy way of doing it is to have the cover turned inside-out, then put your arms into the cover and get the corners, once you have those, then get the corresponding corners of the duvet and grab them through the cover, and hold onto them while you pull the cover the right side out, and you can also hold it up as high as you can and give the lot a good shake and let gravity put the thing on for you. Just don't let go of the corners until you have it on! Takes 2 or 3 minutes after a bit of practice ...

Yes there is, Get somebody else to do it!
No Honestly the best way is to turn the Duvet cover inside out, Then put your hands inside it and roll it up your arms until you can grab each corner of the other end. Dont let go of the duvet cover corners and grab your duvet at each end, then shake it on. It should go on very easily and the rite way around. After a few times it will get easier, remember to always start with the cover inside out or else it will go on the wrong way round once on. Good luck and i will think of you wrestling with the cover

Try turning the duvet cover completely inside out. Reach in and grab the two corners that are furthest away from the open side. (You now have your arms inside the inside out cover.) Now grab two corners of the duvet, through the cover and start shaking the cover over the duvet, still holding the corners. When it's on a bit you can let go of the corners and pull the cover completely over the duvet.
(I once got to demonstrate this method on 'That's Life' with Esther Rantzen many years ago! (I learned this from a Canadian girl in Israel.)

I can do it in about 3 mins, get the corners of the duvet into the cover, grab by the corners and shake. The get the top of the duvet to the top of the devet cuvet cover, holding the middle shake it again. The just button up, works for me anyway.

My mum could do it in about 45 seconds by turning the cover inside out somehow?

turn the duvet cover inside out and put your arms into it. With your hands in the corner of the quilt cover grab the corners of the quilt, then shake the quilt cover down over the quilt - I've got a king size bed and I usually have to stand on the bed to have enough 'drop' to shake downwards! I saw this on TV and it does work it's still hard on a big duvet cover though and reallly hard if your cat comes to 'help' and starts climbing in the duvet cover!

Me too, I hate that job - I used to climb inside the duvet cover and try to conquer the task from the inside. However, this always took me half an hour and I'd end up very pi$$ed off.

However, my girlfriend showed me to turn the cover inside-out and hold on to the top two corners of the cover that you want at the head of your bed. Then reverse the cover back over the duvet (so it's inside-in, as it were!), and shake it around a bit.

Girls - you gotta love em, eh? They know their stuff

Turn duvet cover inside out. Put your hands inside so one hand is in each top corner. Grab hold of the corners of the duvet and then unwrap the cover making sure the corners stay in position.
When you've pulled the cover right down, put the other corners in position, shake and fasten.

i start by finding the corners of the cover and putting one hand inside each corner. then you take the duvet corners themselves and put them into the cover corners that you're holding. i have to stand on the bed because i'm only 4 foot 10, to shake down the cover over the duvet.
this works for me.
apparently anthea turners tip was to have the cover inside out, grab the corners, and then shake down over the duvet.
