i cant figure out the problem.. already updated the driver and all.. pls help

There are many reasons..
1) does this happen with a particular Brand CD
2) since it receogines tDVD there is no problem at all with the cable connections or the drive. or the driver. The only culprit seems to be a bad CD. Try using another BRNAD cd.
HP machines have lot of problems iwth Maxell/memorex etc CDs

Ur Drive is faulty. try getting a new one as these combo drive become faulty very fast. Its my own experience.
