Every biological system has a natural lifespan, whether its a living animal or plant, or a species, or a local population; or in our case, civilisations.
We look back at the past and think we are different ans immune. We know that the ancient civilisations no longer exist, but feel superior.
The fact is that its a normal part of the cycle of events and we have learned nothing about how to deal with it.

The only reason the West is in any kind of decline is because it's spending precious resources fighting religious fanatics whose world view would have the whole world living in the Dark Ages.

Yes, the signs of the decline are the lowering literacy rates, increasing gap between the ends of the social classes, disappearance of the middle class and dirty public restrooms.

Yes as long as we continue to hand over money to countries that dont want to help themselves and continue to stab us in the back.As long as we have people who want to bash religion and christians and conservatives and scream for rights of islamic terrorists that have tried to kill our soldiers.As long as we have pacifists that want to lay down all weapons and sing kumbya and understand those who want to kill us.As long as we have people calling our president a Nazi at a time of war..we continue declining,
