Sephiroth was created for good intentions. However he is misguided as he later turned out to be an experiment (and cloud for that matter) and was used by the goverment and after seeing all of this he then decided to destroy the world.

Well, if you follow the history of Japanese Anime, you'll find that the antagonists of the story are usually products of an evil project or test gone wrong, and are no more 'evil' than generally 'misguided', or perhaps a product of their 'world' or 'government' gone wrong. After all, to know what's wrong with the world, we must look at those in power, and also within ourselves, right?

You see, ultimately it's all America's fault for dropping the bomb.

I don't think I would use the term misguided, I think he went crazy.

He seemed alright albeit a little cold when you see him in the earlier cut scene when he and 'cloud' are going to check out the reactor in Nibelheim, however when he discovers the truth about his birth and about jenova he totally looses the plot, I don't think you can turn evil over-night, so I guess he just went mad.

He was created with evil intentions. He was on a good path, but lost his mind.

Was he evil? Maybe not initially, but eventually what he wanted would definitely be perceived by the masses as evil.
