How to get a friend to become less shy around you???

Question

I have this one friend that I've known for four years and the only girls in school that he talks to is me and one of my friends but we always have to start talking to him first, how do I fix this but without making him want to talk to every girl in the school like all of the other boys do??? He's also in 5 out of my 7 classes and in my lunch.... and im hoping to get him to notice me more than just a friend but he had this really big hangover on my friend last year so what can I do about him?

I have to disagree with the answers about waiting or whatever. Being shy myself the only time I will open is if the person/friend opens first. And even then I'll open very slightly and go from there.

What you should do is get a small group and go to the mall or whatever and invite him along. But make it a smallish group at first else you'll totally freak him out.

I am guessing that you are in High School. I could be wrong though...

Sounds to me like you want him as your boy friend. Maybe you should spend some time with him after school hours. Invite him to go to the mall with you, or go to a movie (as friends at first). Like Big Finger said "Key to any relationship = communication". The more time you communicate (spend together) the better the relationship will become.

Let him decide for you about something, and then he will feel more confident, Also, ask his opinion about your problem, he will be proud to decide something for you..
