I have encoded my short film into MPEG-2 format. It's all been multiplexed together, so its one file now, though when I look in properties, it says that the type of file it is is 'Movie Clip'. I have burned it to a CD to burn to a DVD at a friend's house, because this computer cannot do it. Just wondering, is there anything else I need to do to the file to ensure that it will play on stand-alone DVD players?

First check wether the clip is playing properly in sync then convert the clip along with a converter DVD - mpeg or use Mpeg to Dvd converter

then burn the file as dvd movie file ...then check it out

DVD players work on a .vob chapters from the index. You would be better off, IMHO, with the edited .avi as files on a CD(s). The mpeg should work, there will be a small degradation in picture quality. Your friend should have something like Nero. Nero will have to recode the list of mpeg files to the friend's hard disc and then will burn the DVD. Many DVD players will play a lot of different formats, but THE DVD format that works on 90% is the .vob.

Nero is a good choice because it walks you through the process but it is not the only choice. Be sure and set the sound volume when you're in Nero.
