Pop ups are caused by spyware, also known as trojans. To get rid of them you can download Ewido anti spyware, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and make sure you use a firewall (not the windows one). You also need an anti virus, Avast is the best around at the moment.

Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run Avast and Ewido in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it.

The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.

Hi:

Do the following and you will never get those annoying popups.

First of all, get RegSeeker to clean your registry, it's a freeware. You can download it here >> http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

Then, download Spybot - Search & Destroy to scan for spyware, adware, hijackers and other malicious software. It's also a freeware. Don't forget to upload the internal database before proceeding to cleaning. You can download it here >> http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html

After that install Firefox, an open source alternative to IE, which is lot better than IE and has lot of features that you will never return to IE again. Get it here >> http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

I hope this exceeds your expectations from Yahoo! Answers community.

Get yourself a pop up blocker that comes along with the toolbar, I guess.

But, from your CPU?

Now that's a new one!
