I would say it depends where you want you career to go & what is popular out there on the market. I would say db wise, SQL Server & Oracle are the main leaders; Access is limited but can be fairly easily upgraded to SQL Server.

Tons of graphic design packages out there. Depends what fits your needs & what you current company is requiring. Corel, Macromedia, Adobe, Apple, NetObjects, etc all offer great graphic design packages.

I would check the job ads & what their requirements usually are. I's also check colleges to see what is usually taught. That should give you clues where to focus.

However, as always with the computer field, what is popular today could be pitched tomorrow. Be flexible and adaptable because you're going to have to learn & relearn if you stay in this field a while.

If you are fluent in it, why not expand yourself i.e:
1) For database.... learn about business ideas and what industries are looking for in their database applications these days.

2) For graphics design.... it would be interesting if you learn about animations control. Then you'd be a "FULL" graphics expert.. :)

You can never stop learning ! :)
Cheers!
