The QB must have been in a primary role as a backup QB in his entire career (no previous starters that were pushed to the back because of age).

Earl Morral. With the Baltimore colts, he won the 1968 league MVP backing up an injured Johnny Unitas. He started 2 Superbowls, winning one, in place of Unitas, also. With the Miami Dolphins, he took over in game 5 of their 1972 undefeated season, starting until the AFC Championship game after Bob Griese was injured. No question, the greatest back-up ever.

Frank Reich, led the Bills to THE greatest comeback in NFL history, he would have been #2 on any team (except probably the 49ers with Montana/Young). He was the backup for 4 straight Superbowls - maybe would have won one if he had played.

Easy. Frank Reich. He led the best comeback in NFL history after Jim Kelly suffered a concussion. Doesn't get any better than that. In a different era, this guy would've been a starter for another team...

Doug Flutie. He did start a few games with a few different teams(injuries to the starter)When the starters came back, he went back to #2. He has been to the Super Bowl. He has played in Canada and had one hell of a career in both leagues.

Gary Kubiak. Not only was he a capible back up to John Elway, he became a great assistant coach. Now a pretty good Head Coach.

Tom Brady. He was backup to Bledsoe, Brady came in and eventually took Pats to Superbowl, the first of his 3 Superbowl wins.
