Are there any medical schools that dont solely base their admissions on which subjects you had but on marks received or other medical qualifications obtained.

Medical schools don't base their answers solely on anything. There are multiple factors they consider. MCAT scores are a big thing. Letters of recommendation are important, admission essays as well. There is no one undergraduate major that they ever require, but most people will major in the biochemical sciences to help prepare better. Most schools have pre-med tracks they recommend for optimal med-school preparation. You could major in philosophy or art and go to med school if you show great analytical thinking through your grades in tough courses and test scores and such. If you have a previous medical background that can only help but since it is not a requirement it's not enough without the indication that you can face the grueling academic challenges found in medical school. They usually determine if you can be such an academic success by your track record in an academic setting in the areas most related to the course of study to which you are applying.
