I'm just wondering if any women got tired of waiting for Mr. Right and chose to get pregnant by artifical insemination, or by a friend, knowing they'd be single moms. Curious to hear about the experience.

well...this should be interesting. probably not what you expected as an answer. i myself am a product of donor insemination, with my mom being a single mom by choice. as the offspring of this and knowing what it's like to grow up not knowing who "he" is or who any of my siblings are, i will tell you right now that it is hell to constantly wonder if every man you pass on the street is "him" or if ever person u date is your sibling, and having to embarrassingly ask them what their fathers did when they were younger. the eldest of us offspring are in their 60s, and most of us will never ever know our fathers or our siblings. please consider the pain you will create in your creation. i'm not disregarding your desire for a child and the love you feel you have for it...but if you really have that kind of love to give, please look into less radical, painful alternatives. also, this isn't just a painful thing for the child. i promise you will go thru much strife too. i'd advise you to look further into the situations of not only the offspring but also their parents. whether you remain single or get married afterwards, it will be a heartwrenching lifestyle to live not only for yourself but also your child. please look further into this, and feel free to message me for more information.

If you are absolutely sure you can love and raise a child without a natural father and that you don't want marriage, why not? My only concern might be the biological make-up of the sperm donor, and whether I am TRULY READY for single motherhood.

A little like customising a baby -auburn hair or blonde? Just remember to love your baby no matter what, and raise him/her with the right moral ethics. :p

I truly, TRULY considered it. Until Mr. Rightnow ended up being Mr. Right. Lucky me I guess.
