ok some people aren't reading the details I didn't say all marriages are like this but if you get down to the point then they are both the same the only difference is the fact that a prostitute is out looking for sex in the relationship it is right there no need to look for it and if the guy is paying the way and getting s** then she is getting paid for what she is doing just one gets the money in hand and the other may just have the bills getting paid but the action is the same they are both paying the bills and in relationships where they both work and split the bills then the s** part is just a bonus for the both of them

I have always thought of it as legalized slavery. But now that you put it that way, I also agree with that too, So now it's legalized slavery and prostitution.

i don't agree with your theory. if a marriage is good and for the right reasons...there should be an equal give and take. now i realize this doesn't always happen. but most households today are multi income households. where both the husband and the wife are contributing to the bills. so in that respect her cleaning the house and him paying the bills wouldn't be prostitution.it would have to be a marriage of convienience. one where they are together simply for some sort of gain other than having a loving relationship. in that case i could say that that particular relationship could be classified as prostitution but you can't generalize all marriages as such.

I can't even believe some people agreed with this concept - it doesn't make sense - in the question itself -

By this question - you are assuming that all men take care of all women in all relationships - what about when the woman does or what about in gay marriages?

Marriage is based on love, caring, compassion, vows, respect, sharing a life together - making a committment to someone to be there for better or worse.. it is about spending your life to someone - dedication - sharing yourself.. It is not just about you anymore.

So - seems that taking those foundations of marriage away - wouldn't make it marriage would it? I am sure some women and men marry for money and only money but those individuals certainly do not compose the majority of people who marry - most marry for love. And sometimes, in marriage one or both of the people will stop having sex or can't anymore due to a multitude of reasons - but they stay together - marriage is love unconditionally - even when looks fade and money is gone - if those were even there to begin with - it is about the core of the other person that you fell in love with and vowed to be with forever - it is so much more.

Prostitution is a transaction - money for sex. That is it - marriage is so much more. You can't take away those things from marriage - that is what makes it marriage.. you can never add those things to prostitution though -

I can see were you draw your conclusion from yes in a marriage you do pay to keep a person or in some cases this is so, but sweety I pay to keep my kids in this marriage as well and I will be paying for them all the way until they finish college .
I pay not for sex I pay for partnership and company you pay a prostitute for sex and as soon as that contract is resolved it is ended were in the case of my wife I also receive her companionship her emotions her in put and her problems . I pay with more than money to have a wife and family and I receive a lot more in return so no I'm not paying my wife for sex not that she wouldn't take it if I did ( snicker snicker)

That's not called Prostitution...That is referred to as having a "Sugar Daddy", take away the commitment, Love. Usually the woman would be set up in her own apt. or home, she rarely lives with the guy, except on weekends.
Other than that, sounds like a loveless, empty marriage with a Contract bonded by the state.

clearly uve never been in love...paying bills isnt a way to keep ur wife/husband...u pay bills for the service u get in return from the phone/hydro/electric/tv/internet/etc. company. but there are always the case where old rich men marry beautiful young women....that would be an example of prostitution.

No, I disagree. In my marriage, we BOTH work and split the bills and I'm sure there are marriages out there where both partners work so I'm afraid your theory doesn't hold any water.

NO, MARRIAGE IS NOT THE SAME AS PROSTITUTION BECAUSE IT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU GIVE YOUR COMMITMENT TO, NOT LIKE PROSTITUTION WHERE YOU JUST PAY FOR SEX AND THEN YOU GO WHILE MARRIAGE EVEN IF THERE IS NO LOVE, CARING AND TOGETHERNESS STILL THERE IS THE WORD COMMITMENT THAT YOU GIVE WHEN YOU FACE EACH OTHER AND SAY "I DO"

Assuming the wife hasn't slept around or contracted an std some other way, I guess it would depend on which is more acceptable, getting the std from a prostitute or being nagged by your wife/ "prostitute."
