I'm replacing the headlight switch, for that there's a release button and the knob and shaft pull free. to access the nut to remove the switch you have to remove the finish panel. To remove the finish panel, you have to get the windshield wiper knob out of the way. There's a slot on the knob where a little alan screw might be lying behind, but I can see no little screw and I was so furious after an hour of trying to get the thing off, I actually tried to just bust it off or force it off and the f@#$%er wouldn't even break off. I'm sure it's very simple. please help. thanks.

If I remember correctly, the is a "one-way" clip (a clip shaped like a triangle that enables the knob to be pushed onto the shaft) inside the knob itself that secures the knob to the shaft. You need a 90 degree pick to insert behind the knob and push OUTWARDS (toward you), and then pull the knob off. I am not 100% sure if this is the type of knob your vehicle has. I know that on other Fords with this type of knob, that is the method for sure though. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If you don't mind spending a dollar or so you can just pull real hard and pull it off. Or if you have a 90 degree pick you can put it behind the knob and find the clip and push towards you. It should pull off. If not pull real hard and replace the clip.

on the front side, front of car, you must use a bent pick to get the release tab to remove tension from wiper shaft. you find tab then put pressure on tab then gently pull on wiper knob it will slide off.
to install just align flat of shaft to flat of tab "lock tab is inside of knob"and simply press on . pull to test that it is on and locked: )
be gentile & lots of luck

it should pull off. but it may be glued, or have a small latch to push before you can get it off. if you don't want to take a chance, take it to a local auto store or neighborhood mechanic for advice and/or assitance in removing it. it may even require removing a nut on the backside to remove the switch itself.

Go to a dealership and tell them you need a knob. When they bring it out, take a look at it and see if you can tell how to do it.

If not, ask the parts guys, not the service desk.
